Whom Do YOU Recommend?

As a Christian work-at-home mom, I often have a chance to mentor other Christian and non-Christian moms that want to do what I do. Many of these moms are very impressionable and open to anyone who seems to have all the answers.
Before I give anyone a recommendation to a book, program, etc., I try and research the person behind what I am recommending. It is very important to me that I recommend someone who, while not perfect, tries to live a Godly life. If they are not a Christian, I can still recommend them if their life, while not specifically Christian, is a moral life.
Just today, I came across the opportunity to download a new book written by a well-known financial guru. The book download was being offered - FREE - from a well-known celebrity’s website. I was going to post it to ChristianWAHM.com and recommend it here.
I did not know much about the background of this person, so I started doing a little research on them before I posted the free offer. Their financial advice appeared to be sound and I thought this might be a good fit, even though it was apparent that the author was a secular author, not a Christian author.
Then I found something that made me decide against recommending them to my readers and website members. This particular author had recently “come out” and share with the public the details of their private life. And because when they admitted is something that I believe God speaks clearly about in the Bible, I couldn’t and wouldn’t ever recommend their financial services, books, etc.
Some people may say that I am being too picky, that I can’t impose my lifestyle on this particular author - that the content should be most important thing, not the lifestyle of the author. Unfortunately, the content is tainted by the lifestyle of the author. Yes, I cannot impose my morality on her, only God can do so. But as a Christian, I am determined that I will only promote things that seem to be “of good report”.
That being said, let me now recommend some good Christian financial “gurus”:

That is a good principle. I think you should stick that and not waiver. I agree you can’t impose your beliefs onto that person, but as a Christian, you can’t impose their beliefs onto people you mentor. That would just be against your beliefs. Good post.
