Pet Nanny to the Rescue

I want to take a moment and introduce you to my niece - Rachel. Rachel is (I think) 23 years old, wife, mother of one, and soon to be mother again. And Rachel is a Pet Sitter - and a very succesful one at that.

Until recently, my relationship with Rachel was that of aunt and niece, sometimes babysitter. After all, she’s not much older than my oldest son. But recently, Rachel and I somehow became friends. I have really enjoyed helping her with her business and watching how, with hard work, someone can become successful at something they love to do.

Rachel has always loved working with animals. As a teenager, she had pet snakes, chinchillas, and other exotic creatures. She worked as a veterinary assistant and anything else she could do to be near her animals. Even with everything going on in her life right now, she has been taking college courses to further her veterinary education. Maybe, one day - she’ll be a vet.

About a year ago, Rachel came to me and asked me if I would host and build her website. Of course, I agreed. I told her I would come up with the design and she had to provide all the content. Within a couple of days, I had well organized content and everything I needed to get her site up. Needless to say, it was one of the quickest ones I had done.

Then we worked together on her content, making sure we had keywords and good content to help her get ranked in the search engines. I make her site so that she could update it easily herself and she was ready to go.

From there, she was off and running. She put out fliers, posted classifieds all over the internet, and within a couple of weeks, she had her first customers. Since then, God has blessed her with steady income that is helping them get out of debt and work on getting a house.

Her love of animals has also given her opportunity to book fun, different, and lucrative jobs. Most pet sitters limit themselves to dog walking, feeding animals when people go out of town, etc. Not Rachel! She has done things like babysitting a dog in a hotel when the owners went out a day-long conference, and even escorting a dog from Atlanta to New York by plane! What fun!

I have been encouraging Rachel to write an ebook on how to get a pet sitting business started the RIGHT way! When she does and we put it up on the website, I will let everyone know.

Meanwhile, I’m a proud aunt who is so proud of my niece carrying on with the family entrepreneurial spirit. Way to go, Rachel! Make sure you visit her website via the link above.
