Do work at home moms suffer from burnout? I never thought so before this year!
This year has been a rough year for our family. My father-in-law and two of my aunts passed away. I had the first major surgery in my life when skin cancer was discovered on my arm. All these things have contributed to extreme tiredness and work-at-home burnout.
But, as a new year approaches, I’m regrouping and working on getting things back on track. Getting back to getting my own sites started up again and in order. Working on getting my client work done as quickly as possible. And with the help of God, overcoming work-at-home burnout.
Here are some steps you can take when you experience work-at-home burnout:
1. Set your work hours. Decide what your “office” or work hours will be and then stick to them as much as your can. Don’t answer the phone after hours either, call the client/customer back the next day.
2. Calendars are important! List all your appointments, deadlines, client call backs, family responsibilities and more. Review the calendar every day to make sure you don’t miss a thing!
3. Make “to do” lists EVERY DAY! Fill it up, check it off, and move what you haven’t done to the next day.
4. Take time off. Since my husband often works on Friday and Saturday nights (he’s a mobile DJ), then I might take time off during the middle of the week and work some on the weekends. Make sure you take Sundays off to rejuvenate, worship at your church, and enjoy your family.
Take time for yourself this year. Spend time with your family and you’ll find that the work-at-home job will not overtake you as easily. That’s what I’ll be doing!
